In 2018, the emerging M9 Museum in Mestre asked us to design an installation in the cloister of the former convent. The aim was to draw the public's attention to the theme of urban public mobility, specifically the use of bicycles as a means of transportation in the city.
We crafted an immersive installation to revive the concept of bicycle through the interaction of different sound sources and the audience.
Project & creation
We created an immersive installation to "elevate" the bicycle and restore its past charm. Here, the sound sources are the bicycles themselves, interacting through their use by the public.
Using a "modified" version of the Speakercloud system, in such a way as to install the punctiform speakers on the bicycles, we programmed them to react to the presence and movement of a person. As a result, the audience was pervaded by a sensation of sound feedback resulting from the pedaling action.
We completed the installation by "flooding" the cloister with blue light and ambient sound.
