ambient remix
We created an immersive ambient remix of the song "What's Going On?" by Marvin Gaye for the 5VIE Design Week in Milan. With the idea of proposing a deconstructed version of the song.
An ambient remix where the harmonic parts exploded into granular synthesis, while the rhythmic part and vocals were audible only from a precise point, where the meaning of the project was revealed.
Project & creation
The installation was realised on the Hotel Ariston Milano terrace in Milan for the Design Week 2022, which title was "Prototyping Utopias / Design in Transition".
The idea was to create an experience to emphasize the contrasts of our world, and inspire the audience towards a brighter future. For this purpose, the song "What's Going On?" (written by Gaye for the war in Vitnam) found a perfect fit with the current situation of the war in Ukraine.
We embraced the Design Week mission of defining meaningful perspectives and collective visions, by creating an environment that could suscitate contrasting emotions in the audience.
